NOTE FROM THE WOODWORKER:
My Grandpa had a passion for carpentry. As far back as I can remember he was always working in the shop. Over the years he built some amazing pieces of furniture (tables, wine cabinets, bookshelves), wooden puzzles, as well as homes, decks, etc. In 2014, He passed away from lymphoma and his workshop has remained relatively untouched. In many ways his presence can still be felt in his workshop. This fall, my family decided it was time to start going through grandpa's shop and finding new homes for much of the stuff in his shop. Over the past few years, I have become interested in woodworking. I often think about grandpa when I am in the shop and I know he would have loved seeing the things I've made. Grandpa had some beautiful wood left in his workshop that has been given to me and I wanted to make something truly special with it. Olivia was a beautiful soul who was loved dearly by my family. Olivia could be seen playing dolls, drawing with chalk, listening to stories and biking around with my daughters. She is truly missed. I am honoured to make something to commemorate Olivia.
